Kev! Good to see ya lad. You caught me at a time when I was lagging on the posting, so I apologize for the delayed response. I have given the place another go on regular weeknights and the service was much better (even with brand new bartenders). The food is pretty good bar fare and while the price of the beer is more expensive than most other places, they have more taps and you can't beat the number of big screens they've got up for sports viewing (there are no other sports bars within walking distance). I'm actually heading out there now. It hasn't replaced my usual hang-out, but it's definitely my runner-up.

Meh - teh suck. There's no excuse for that, but I'll bet that the overwhelming majority of people working there are green rookies who have never held a service job before.

That's never an excuse, and most owners and managers are hyper-sensitive of this kind of thing during openings because they make or break the bar. Lots of people give a place one, maybe two, shots, and then they're done.

The sad part is the crew who got the quarter will just think you're cheap and not recognize they fucked up. It can never be their fault, can it? ;) I think a call/letter/drop-in to the owner to say what you say here is a great idea.

You've got a good balance of pros and cons, and give the benefit of the doubt. At the end of the day, however, the experience was negative enough that you'll think twice about coming back. It's great feedback, and it's never necessary to single anyone out, because someone who understands bar management will let everyone know how important the first few weeks are.

Hi Helly! Been a while. :)
