Monitor
I really shouldn’t spend the money (especially considering my car decided that the last 7 months of payments aren’t enough and decided to prope the depths of my credit), but I don’t have a choice. My monitor, a venerable Sony Multiscan 17seII, has finally given up the ghost. At first I thought I had doublevision, or that my glasses were messed up somehow, but once I cleared the sleep from my eyes this morning I realized that my monitor was, indeed, screwed. Ghost images everywhere. So sad.
I honestly can’t remember how long this monitor and I have been together. I want to say that it’s been easily 8 years and maybe more, and that’s after I inherited it from my father. She’s served me well, but I finally have to swap her out. I missed a deal on some Dell Ultrasharp LCD monitors a few weeks, but I’ve been reading and hearing good things about BenQ. Coincidentally, NewEgg.com has what appears to be a nice BenQ 19″ LCD on sale with a $60 rebate, which brings its price right in line with what I would have spent on the Dell. I pulled the trigger. Hopefully sometime this week I’ll have a new monitor, because this one’s hurting my eyes. I guess I’ll finally get to use the DVI output of the video card, too. The question now is: will I be sucked back into the games, what with a pretty new monitor?
